Introduction to Anodized 5052 Aluminum Sheet

Anodized 5052 aluminum sheet is a type of Al-Mg alloy plate, with Magnesium as the main alloy element. Boasting high strength and anti-fatigue strength, it’s the most widely applied one of all anti-rust aluminum alloys. Anodized aluminum sheet has even stronger corrosion resistance. 5052 aluminum sheet has high plasticity and strong anti-rust property. It’s not suitable for heat treatment strengthening, performing good plasticity under semi-cold hardening state and poor plasticity under cold hardening state. It has good welding and polishing properties yet poor cutting property. In addition to aluminum and magnesium, the plate contains slight shares of manganese, chromium, beryllium and titanium. Most of the manganese element forms MnAl6 and a little becomes solid solution. The function of chromium is similar to that of manganese: to improve the sheet’s properties against corrosion, splitting and mechanical press, strengthen hardness of the plate and welding gaps, and reduce possibility of welding cracking. The content of chromium is generally no less than 0.35%.

With magnesium as the main alloy metal, 5052 aluminum sheet has good working ability, corrosion resistance, welding property and hardness. It’s mostly applied to products of high plasticity and good welding property. It can be processed into low loading parts contacting liquid or gas mediums such as plan oil tanks, petrol or lubricant guiding ducts and containers for various liquids. It’s also a raw material for vehicle floors and bodies, sheet metal parts for ships and vessels, aerospace products, instrument components, street lamp supports, hardware, rivets and electronic product shells etc.
