Differences Between Aviation aluminum alloy plate and ordinary aluminum alloy plate

Aviation aluminum alloy plate is a kind of the deformation of ultra high strength aluminum alloy, which has good mechanical properties and processing properties, easy shaping, good heat treatment reinforcement effect, and with high intensity and good toughness under the high temperature (150 ℃ or higher).

Compared with ordinary aluminum alloy, aviation aluminum alloy has higher requirements on strength, hardness, toughness, fatigue resistance and plasticity. Because of the light quality and significant lightweight effect of aviation aluminum, it has replaced steel and occupied the leading position of aviation materials.

There are many kinds of aluminium alloys used in airplanes. In today’s world aviation aircraft structure with aluminum alloy is mainly high strength 2 series (2024, 2017, 2a12, etc.) and ultra high strength 7 series (7075, 7475, 7050, 7a04, etc.), as well as part of the 5 series (5a06, 5052, 5086, etc.) and 6 (6061, 6082, etc.) and a small amount of other materials.

Aerospace aluminum is mainly used in the wing surface skin, long wing plane girder, edge of wing on the beam bars, web, fuselage stringer, seat slide rail, keel beam and side frame, the fuselage skin, the bottom wall plate, the main floor purlin and parts.

1. Hard aluminum: aluminum magnesium copper alloys are the most widely used in aviation. Commonly used aluminum magnesium copper alloys are 2024, 2A12, 2017A, which have good strength, toughness, fatigue resistance, good plasticity and used for making covers, spacers, ribs, etc.

2. Super hard aluminum: aluminum, zinc, magnesium and copper alloy, commonly used 7075, 7A09, with high strength limit and yield strength, large load bearing, used to make the upper wing cover, girder, etc.

3. Rust-proof aluminum alloy: commonly used aluminum magnesium alloy 5A02, 5A06 and 5B05. It has high corrosion resistance, fatigue resistance, good plasticity and weldability and used to make mailbox, tubing, etc.

4. Forging aluminum alloy, commonly used one is 6A02, with high hardness and good corrosion resistance ans used in manufacture engine parts, connectors, etc.

5. The casting aluminum alloy is characterized by high heat resistance, low density, strong corrosion resistance, and is generally used in making engine casing, etc.
