Marine Aluminium Grades

General marine aluminium grades alloys, mostly 5000 series magnesium-aluminum alloys. Different models are distinguished according to the magnesium content, such as: 5052, 5083, 5086 5454, 5754 etc. Among the marine grade aluminium alloys, the 5052 aluminum alloy and 5083 aluminum alloy are most widely used. It is simply understood that 5052 marine grade aluminium alloy contains less magnesium and has better formability, and is better for pressing, while 5083 marine grade aluminum alloy has a high magnesium content, it is suitable for pressing, but 5083 marine aluminium is harder and has better corrosion resistance than 5052 marine aluminum.

If marine aluminium grades is used in inland freshwater waters, marine grade aluminium 5052 can be used. If it is in seawater or highly corrosive waters, marine grade aluminum 5083 can be used; and many aluminum alloy boats use aluminium 5083 alloy as the lower part of the boat (underwater part) and 5052 aluminum alloy as the upper part of the boat (surface part) in order to adapt to the seawater environment and beauty.

After the marine aluminium grades are adopt to shipbuilding industry. The ship has complete models, diverse functions, high speed and convenience, safety and comfort, beautiful appearance, impact resistance, corrosion resistance, and light weight. It is a good replacement for traditional wooden boats, steel boats and fiberglass boats. It is an important supplement and improvement of the product structure of shipbuilding industry. When aluminum alloy parts and structures have the same strength as steel, their quality is much lower than that of steel. Therefore, even under heavy loads, aluminum boats are easier to speed up and glide than steel boats, and sail more smoothly and comfortably. The operation is also more flexible. The repairability of the aluminum alloy structure is much simpler, so that it has a high value preservation, and at the same time, after the aluminum ship is scrapped, it has a higher recyclability than any other material.
