It’s not difficult for aluminium plate manufacturers to keep the thickness error within 3%, but the figure proves to be extremely small when it comes to aluminum foil, the total thickness of which is measured by micro meter rather than millimeter. What makes the problem trickier is that the foils are becoming thinner and thinner to reduce cost for both manufacturers and purchasers.

The elements include temperature, oil film and oil concentration etc. Besides, a roll of aluminum foil is usually under processing for around 10 hours, during which too many elements might influence the control effect of thickness error. The only control method, however, is to adjust the tension and speed of the foil. It needs so many integrated conditions to guarantee wanted thickness, including qualified blanks, proper adjustment of roller force and parameters, stable rolling process, frequent measuring during the rolling etc.

 

Therefore, strict control of aluminium foil sheet thickness errors entail investment in quality raw material, device as well as workers, which turns out to be hard for small scale manufacturers. That’s why experienced purchasers would attach great importance to the scale and strength of a supplier before putting an order.
